Play media on your Google Nest speaker or display using Bluetooth

You can connect your mobile device to your Google Nest or Home speaker or display with Bluetooth to listen to music, audiobooks, podcasts, and other media. 

Step 1. Pair your mobile device and speaker or display

From the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Touch and hold the tile of the device you want to pair.
  4. Tap Settings  and then Audio and then Paired Bluetooth devices and then Enable Pairing Mode.

From your mobile device's Bluetooth settings

  1. On your mobile device's Home screen, tap Settings and then Bluetooth.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth On.
  3. Tap the name of the speaker or display you'd like to pair.

From your computer's Bluetooth settings

Note: Steps vary depending on computer or laptop model.

Windows OS

  1. Select the Start button and then type "Bluetooth"  and then select Bluetooth settings from the list.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth.
  3. Tap the name of the speaker or display you’d like to pair.

Mac OS

  1. Click the Apple menu and then System Preferences.
  2. Find the Bluetooth icon .
  3. Turn on Bluetooth.
  4. Select the name of the speaker or display you’d like to pair.

Step 2. Connect your mobile device and speaker or display

If your speaker or display is paired with multiple mobile devices, it connects to the most recently paired device. Learn how to check which mobile devices are connected to your speaker or display.

Using your mobile device

  1. Open Bluetooth settings on your mobile device.
  2. Under "Available devices," tap the speaker or display you paired to your mobile device.

Using your voice

To do this: Say "Ok Google or "Hey Google," then:

Connect

"Connect"
"Connect to Bluetooth"

Disconnect

Note: Your mobile device will stay connected to
your speaker or display until you disconnect.

"Disconnect"
"Disconnect Bluetooth"

Step 3. Play media

Once your mobile device is paired and connected to your speaker or display, use basic and advanced music commands to listen to music, audiobooks, and podcasts.

Using the Google Home app

Check which mobile device is paired with your device

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings   and then Audio and then Paired Bluetooth devices.
  5. You'll find your mobile device and the date it was paired.

Unpair mobile device and your speaker or display

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Touch and hold the tile of the device you want to unpair.
  4. Tap Settings  and then Audio and then Paired Bluetooth devices.
  5. Tap the X next to the device you want to unpair and then Unpair.

Using your voice

To do this: Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google," then:
Turn on your speaker or display’s Bluetooth "Turn on Bluetooth"
Check pairing status "Is Bluetooth active?"
"Is Bluetooth paired?"
"Is Bluetooth connected?"
Exit Bluetooth pairing "Cancel"
"Cancel pairing"
"Cancel Bluetooth pairing"
Clear all paired devices "Clear all paired Bluetooth devices"
"Clear all paired devices"
"Clear all Bluetooth devices"
"Clear all devices"
"Clear all my devices"
"Unpair devices"
