Watch live video stream with the Google Home app

You can watch live video from your Nest cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app. You can either zoom in on a single camera for a detailed picture or monitor multiple cameras through the Favourites tab in the Home app.

Watch live video from a specific camera or doorbell

Important:

• Live video is available only for Nest cameras and doorbells that you control with the Google Home app.

• To help you quickly identify your camera, each camera tile will show a preview from your last live view session.

• The spinner and timestamp indicate a camera tile preview, while a green 'live' dot signifies live view.

To conserve power, your live video stream will automatically stop:

• Live video from battery-powered Nest cameras and doorbells stops after five minutes.

• Live video from wired Nest cameras and doorbells stops after 12 hours.

To start the live stream again, tap Watch live.

From cameras

1. Open the Google Home app .

2. Tap Cameras to view all your cameras and doorbells.

3. If the camera isn't streaming, tap Turn on.

4. If your camera is offline, tap Retry to reconnect.

From the Favourites tab

1. Open the Google Home app .

2. Scroll to the camera that you want to check.

   • If the camera isn't streaming, tap Turn on.

   • If your camera is offline, tap Retry to reconnect.

Turn your camera on or off in the Google Home app

1. Open the Google Home app .

2. Tap the camera that you want to adjust from Favourites or in the camera category space.

3. Tap the menu icon at the bottom right of the screen.

4. From there, you can turn the camera on or off.

Add camera or doorbell to the Favourites tab

When you add a camera or doorbell to the Favourites tab in the Home app, you’ll be able to view video on that tab.

1. In the Favourites tab in the Google Home app , scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Edit .

2. Scroll to the 'Devices' section and tap on the camera or doorbell that you want to favourite. You can select multiple devices at the same time.

3. Tap Save. Your camera’s live view will now appear on the Favourites tab.

Tip: If you add battery-powered cameras and doorbells to the Favourites tab, the frequent use of live feeds may impact their battery life.
