Aux input for Google Home Max

The aux port on Google Home Max lets you play media from various devices like a phone, laptop, CD player, or vinyl record player. You can still use your Google Assistant for other things while playing media.

Google Home Max aux

Listening to media on other devices

  1. Plug your device into the aux port.
  2. Press play on the device.

Tip: For the best listening experience, turn the volume of the source device to a high level.

Don’t hear anything? Say “Hey Google, switch to aux” and the content should start playing.

Switching to aux by voice

If you decide to play music from your Assistant, you can switch back to your aux input. Just repeat “Hey Google, switch to aux.”

Automatic Switching

Max is checking for a signal from anything you plug in and will automatically switch to aux if nothing else is playing. This switching happens as long as you aren't actively casting.

Note: If a cast session just ended, you may have to wait up to 30 seconds before the device automatically switches. If you don’t want to wait, just say “Hey Google, switch to aux.”
