Play music on Google Home using Bluetooth

You can play music that's stored on your mobile device (phone or tablet) or computer on Google Home using Bluetooth. This includes iTunes Music, Audible, Apple Music and personal playlists.

Note: Music playing on Google Home can’t be streamed through Bluetooth speakers or headphones.

Step 1. Pair your mobile device & Google Home

Step 1. From the Google Home app

1. Open the Google Home app .

2. In the top right corner of the app Home screen, tap Devices .

3. Find the device card for the Google Home you want to pair with Bluetooth.

4. In the top right corner of the device card, tap the device card menu More menu iconand thenSettings and then Paired Bluetooth devices and then Enable Pairing Mode.

Step 2. From your mobile device's Bluetooth settings

  1. On your mobile device's Home screen, tap Settings and then Bluetooth .
  2. Turn on Bluetooth .
  3. Tap the name of the Google Home you'd like to pair. 

Step 2. Connect your mobile device & Google Home

If Google Home is paired with multiple mobile devices, it connects to the most recently paired device. Here's how to check which mobile devices are connected to Google Home.  
 

Using your mobile device

  1. Open Bluetooth settings on your mobile device.
  2. Under “Available devices,” tap the Google Home you paired to your mobile device. 

Using your voice

Note: This feature is rolling out over the next few days. 

To do this: Say "Ok Google or "Hey Google", then...

Connect 

 

"Connect"
"Connect to Bluetooth"

Disconnect 

Note: Your mobile device will stay connected to
Google Home until you disconnect.

"Disconnect"

Step 3. Play music

Once your mobile device is paired and connected to Google Home, use basic and advanced music commands to listen to music and playlists.

Using the Google Home app

Check which mobile device is paired with Google Home

  1. Open the Google Home app .

  2.  In the top right corner of the app Home screen, tap Devices .

  3. Find the device card for the Google Home you want to pair with Bluetooth.

  4. In the top right corner of the device card, tap the device card menu More menu iconand thenSettingsand thenPaired Bluetooth devices. 

  5. You'll see your mobile device and the date it was paired. 

Unpair mobile device and Google Home

  1. Open the Google Home app .

  2.  In the top right corner of the app Home screen, tap Devices .

  3. Find the device card for the Google Home you want to pair with Bluetooth.

  4. In the top right corner of the device card, tap the device card menu More menu iconand thenSettingsand thenPaired Bluetooth devices. 

  5. Tap the X next to the device you want to unpair and then UNPAIR. 

Using your voice

 

To do this: Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google", then...
Check pairing status "Is Bluetooth active?"
"Is Bluetooth paired?"
"Is Bluetooth connected?"
Exit Bluetooth pairing "Cancel"
"Cancel pairing"
"Cancel Bluetooth pairing"
Clear all paired devices "Clear all paired Bluetooth devices"
"Clear all paired devices"
"Clear all Bluetooth devices"
"Clear all devices"
"Clear all my devices"
"Unpair devices"
