Gemini for Home is Google’s new set of intelligence features for your smart home.

When you opt in to Gemini for Home, it’ll be available on all eligible devices in your home. This includes devices you add later. Everyone in your home can use Gemini for Home features.

When you add a Google Home Speaker (2026) to your home, you'll be eligible to opt in to Gemini for Home and set up Gemini for Home voice assistant.

Opt in to Gemini for Home

You’ll receive a notification with the message “Introducing Gemini for Home” once the upgrade to Gemini for Home is available for your home. Tap on the notification to be directed to the Google Home app. Tap Get started and follow the prompts to set up your Gemini for Home.

If you choose Not now and you have a Google Home Premium subscription, you can set it up later through these options:

• Open the Google Home app and a prompt appears. Tap Get Started.
• Open the Google Home app and go to your inbox. Check for the message about setting up Gemini for Home.

Request early access to Gemini for Home voice assistant

Gemini for Home early access differs from the Public Preview for the Google Home app. Join early access to be among the first to get an invite to upgrade your voice assistant to Gemini for Home. You’ll be notified when Gemini for Home features are available for your home.

Before you join, confirm your Google Groups settings to ensure you can sign up for early access:

1. Sign into Google Groups.
2. Tap Settings Global settings.
3. Confirm "Add me to their groups" is checked.
4. Tap Save.

Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Google Home app, then:

1. Open the Google Home app .
2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
3. Tap Home settings  Early Access.
