Set up Charge 5

Turn on and charge your device. To set up Charge 5, first connect it to the charging cable.

Pairing complete screen

Set up the Google Health app. To be able to connect your device, you need to create or log in to your Google account and then pair your tracker. To do this:

  1. Download and install the Google Health app.
  2. Open the Google Health app and tap Sign in with Google.
  3. Choose a Google account. If you don't have a Google account, tap Sign In and then Create account.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account and pair your Fitbit device with your phone. This allows your devices to communicate and sync data.

To complete the creation of your Google Health account, you're prompted to enter your height, weight, and sex to calculate metrics like your stride length and estimate distance, basal metabolic rate (BMR), and calorie burn. Check the Google Health app. Your tracker automatically syncs with the Google Health app on your phone. See your complete health and fitness data in the app.

Navigate Charge 5. Navigate your tracker by tapping the screen and swiping side to side and up and down. Swipe right to return to a previous screen, or firmly double-tap the screen to return to the clock screen.

See your stats. Swipe up on the clock face to see your stats , including steps, heart rate, Active Zone Minutes, and more.

Change your clock face. Match your device to your style by picking from a variety of clock faces. On certain clock faces, tap the clock screen to change the stat you see.

Keep the display on. See real-time progress toward your goals and check the time with just a glance—even when your hands are full.

Water lock screen

Prevent unintended screen activations. Turn on the water lock setting when you're in water, for example showering or swimming, to prevent your screen from activating. To turn on water lock, swipe down from the clock screen and then tap Water Lock and then firmly tap your screen twice. To turn off water lock, firmly double-tap the middle of the screen with your finger. If you don't see "Unlocked" appear on screen, try tapping harder.

Manage your stress. The EDA Scan app detects electrodermal activity, which may indicate your body’s response to stress so you can better track and manage it.

Get heart-rate notifications. Your heart rate is a key indicator of health, so stay informed when Charge 5 detects that your heart rate is unusually high or low.

Get in the zone. Personalized heart-rate zones help you target the training intensity of your choice. Earn Active Zone Minutes for time spent in the moderate (fat burn), vigorous (cardio), or peak heart-rate zones.

Step it up. Charge 5 helps you reach an hourly goal of 250 steps by nudging you at 10 minutes before the hour is over.
