How do I get started with Fitbit Charge 4?

Fitbit Charge 4 helps you take your goals further with built-in GPS, personalized heart-rate zones, Active Zone Minutes, up to 7 days of battery life, and more.

Set up Charge 4

Turn on and charge your device. To set up Charge 4, first connect it to the charging cable.

Set up the Google Health app. To be able to connect your device, you need to create or log in to your Google account and then pair your tracker. To do this:

  1. Download and install the Google Health app.
  2. Open the Google Health app and tap Sign in with Google.
  3. Choose a Google account. If you don't have a Google account, tap Sign In and then Create account.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account and pair your Fitbit device with your phone. This allows your devices to communicate and sync data.

To complete the creation of your Google Health account, you're prompted to enter your height, weight, and sex to calculate metrics like your stride length and estimate distance, basal metabolic rate (BMR), and calorie burn. For details, go to How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

Sync. Sync your tracker regularly with the Google Health app to see your complete health and fitness data on your tracker and in the app.

Respond to messages. On trackers paired to an Android phone, respond directly to text messages and app notifications with preset quick replies.

Get in the zone. Personalized heart-rate zones help you target the training intensity of your choice. Earn Active Zone Minutes for time spent in the moderate (fat burn), vigorous (cardio), or peak heart-rate zones.

Track your workouts. Use the Exercise app to see real-time stats, receive heart zone notifications, capture GPS data, and get a workout summary when you’re done. For additional stats and a workout intensity map if you used GPS, tap the Exercise tile in the Google Health app.

Hourly reminder to move

Step it up. Charge 4 helps you reach an hourly goal of 250 steps by nudging you at 10 minutes before the hour is over.
