How do I register for a Gemini Certification for Educators?
To register for the exam, start from the Learning Center certification page.
- Go to the Google for Education Certifications Launchpad at: https://educertifications.google/
- Scroll to the Gemini section and click on ‘Register’
Tip: Create an account or log into the Learning Center at edu.exceedlms.com before you register for the exam on the Launchpad.
If you are using a Google Workspace for Education account and you aren’t able to access the exam, contact your domain administrator. Alternatively, you can return to the Launchpad while logged into a different Google account.
What are the Gemini certifications?
The Gemini certifications validate foundational understanding of generative AI and the ability to effectively integrate Gemini and other Google AI tools in an educational context.
Who is the audience?
We will have 3 different certifications available.
Educators: This certification is designed for K-12 educators globally. The exam focuses on free features of Google’s AI tool, Gemini, making it accessible to educators regardless of their access to a free Google Workspace for Education or paid Google Workspace with Gemini account. There may be questions about paid features for learning purposes, but these are not scored and will not impact the certification result.
University Students: This certification is designed to equip college and university students with the skills to use Gemini tools responsibly and effectively for academic success and problem-solving. It focuses on developing practical skills while emphasizing ethical considerations, data privacy, and the critical evaluation of AI-generated content. The certification aims to enhance students' existing critical thinking, teaching them to partner with AI as a tool for deeper inquiry and innovation. The exam will focus on free features of Google's AI tool, Gemini, making it accessible to all students.
K-12 Students: This certification is designed to empower students ages 13 to 17 to become responsible and informed users of generative AI. It equips them with practical skills to leverage Gemini tools for learning, creativity, and problem-solving while emphasizing ethical considerations, data privacy, and the critical evaluation of AI-generated content. It’s core purpose is to enhance students’ existing critical thinking abilities, teaching them to effectively partner with AI as a tool for deeper inquiry and innovation, rather than allowing it to replace their own intellectual engagement. To unlock the certification exam, students must first successfully complete a foundational course. The exam focuses on free features of Google’s AI tools, making it accessible to all students. While it initially launches in English, future localization is planned.
What will the exam test?
Foundational knowledge of generative AI concepts and the core features and capabilities of Gemini within the educational context.
What is the exam format?
The exam will be a series of multiple choice questions.

Currently the exams are available in the following languages: Arabic, Dutch, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Latina America), Swedish, US English, and UK English.

Why should I get this certification?

What topics does the exam cover?
The exam covers a range of topics related to Gemini’s functionalities, ethical considerations for AI in education, effective prompt engineering, and practical applications of Gemini in classroom settings, including content creation, personalized learning, and administrative tasks.
Are there any prerequisites for taking the exam?
While there are no formal prerequisites, it is recommended that educators have a foundational understanding of AI concepts and practical experience using Gemini in an educational context.

What is the cost of the Gemini Educator certification, and are there different levels?
The Educator Gemini certification registration is free of charge. Currently, there are no levels (like Level 1 or Level 2) for Gemini Certification.
How long will my Gemini Educator certification be valid?
The validity period for Gemini certifications is 3 years.
I passed the Gemini Certification, but I haven't received my certificate. What should I do?
First, check your spam folder. If you still cannot find it, you can log into Accredible, where your certificate should be available.
I am encountering an error or infinite loading loop when trying to take the Gemini Educator exam. How can I resolve this?
If you are experiencing issues, such as an infinite loading loop, you should contact support and provide details like screenshots of the error and the email address you used to register for the exam.
After registering, how long do I have to launch and complete the exam?
After registering, either click TAKE EXAM if you’re ready to take it now or return to the GCE Launchpad within 14 days to launch and complete the exam. If the exam is not taken within this window, you will need to register again after the 14 day period.
Once I launch the exam, how long do I have to complete the exam?
After clicking TAKE EXAM, you will have 2 hours to complete the exam. If the exam is not completed within this window, you will receive a FAIL status but can take the exam again after 14 days.
