You can find and follow people on Currents using your own connections. Suggestions could be generated by:
- Your mutual connections with people on products such as Gmail
- Interactions you’ve had with others on other products
- The connected accounts you've linked to your Google Account
- Friends on external sites, when those friends have connected their accounts to their Currents profile
Find, view, or follow someone
You can see someone's posts in your home stream by following them.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Currents app
.
- Tap Menu
.
- Tap People
.
- Under "Suggestions for you," next to the person's name, tap Add people
.
When you follow someone, they:
- Are added to your "Following" circle
- Might get a notification letting them know that you're following them
- Can see that you're following them
- Can choose what you see from them
- Can see what you share and previously shared with your "Following" circle
- May get a notification if you follow them, follow their Collection, or like, comment on, or reshare their post
Unfollow someone
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Currents app
.
- Open the profile of the person you want to unfollow. You can search for their name, or tap their photo next to a comment or post they've made.
- Tap Following (or the name of the circle they’re in).
- Uncheck the "Following" box.
- Tap Done.
Comment on a post
You can comment on your own posts or posts that other people share. You can enter text, insert images, or place a link into your comments. Links show up with previews.
Add a comment to a post
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Currents app
.
- Tap Add a comment
.
- Add your comment:
- To insert an image: Tap Add photos
.
- To insert a link: Tap Add a link
. You can also start typing a link and a preview should appear below it.
- To insert a link with a preview: Tap through the thumbnails to pick the photo you want to see with the link.
- To insert an image: Tap Add photos
- Tap Post.
Edit or delete your comment
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Currents app
.
- Find the comment you want to edit or delete.
- Tap your comment.
- Tap Edit comment or Delete comment.
- Tap Send
or Ok.
Add an animated GIF to a comment
On Android phones and tablets with Gboard installed, you can add animated GIFs to comments and posts.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Currents app
.
- Tap Add a comment or Comment
.
- At the bottom right of the keyboard, tap Emoji
.
- Tap GIF.
- To search for GIFs:
- Tap Search GIFs.
- Or below the GIF field, tap a GIF category.
- Tap the GIF you want to include in your comment. It will appear in the comment field.
- Tap Post.
Mention people in your posts
Mention people to get their attention on a larger post or if you want to address someone specifically. They'll be able to see the post which they were mentioned in, even if the post wasn't originally shared with them.
Note: You won't be able to mention someone in a comment if the original poster locks the post.
Like a post
Show you liked someone else's post with the like button. People in your network might see posts you've like'd in their stream.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Currents app
.
- Find the post you want to like.
- Tap
.
- Optional: To undo the like, tap
.
Note:
- If you like a public post, your followers may see the post and that you like'd it.
- See posts and comments you've like'd on Currents and outside Currents by viewing your Activity Log.
The like button and your privacy
- When you like a post, Google gets information about your Google profile, the URL you like, your IP address, and other browser-related information.
- If you undo your like, this information will be deleted.
- The like button isn’t used to track your visits across the web.
- Google may keep some information about your visit, usually for about two weeks, to maintain and debug its systems. This information isn’t organized by individual profiles, usernames, or URLs. Publishers do not see this information.
