How do I set up MX records for Google Workspace email?
Environment
- Activate Gmail for Google Workspace
- Namecheap domain host
- Verify domain
- Send and receive messages with Gmail
Solution
Add and manage MX (mail exchange) records using the administrative tools at your domain host, not the Google Admin console. We recommend following the domain-specific instructions. If you're not sure who your domain provider is, follow these steps to find your domain provider. Then, select your domain host on this list and follow step-by-step MX setup instructions.
To get started, follow the steps below:
Set up Google Workspace MX (Namecheap)
- Sign in to Namecheap.
- Open the Workspace Setup Tool.
- Follow these steps to activate Gmail for Google Workspace.
After you activate Gmail, updates can take up to 48 hours.
Start using Gmail
- Sign in to admin.google.com with your Google Workspace user name and password.
- In the top right corner, click the App Launcher Mail .
Cause
When someone sends a message to name@your-company.com, the sender's computer looks up the MX records for @your-company.com to figure out where to deliver that email message.
Before your organization can use Gmail with your Google Workspace account, you need to change your domain's MX records so they direct your incoming messages to Google's mail servers.
