Can't find or connect to Google Clips

 If you can't connect to your Google Clips camera, try the following steps:

Press the shutter button

If you haven't used your Google Clips camera recently, your camera may have gone into standby mode in order to preserve battery life. This happens after 24 hours of inactivity.

To start up your camera, press the shutter button on the front of the camera and try to connect to your camera in the Google Clips app. It may take several seconds for your camera to start up if you haven't used it recently.

Note: You only need to press the shutter button in order to start up your camera. You don't need to twist the lens or start capturing.

Confirm battery level

Make sure Google Clips is charged. If your camera battery is under 5% the device can't boot or connect.

• Google Clips isn't charged: If the middle LED is solid orange or doesn't light up at all when you press the shutter button, the camera may be low on battery.
• Charge Google Clips: Charge the camera using a USB Type-C cable until the LED state changes from solid orange to one flashing white LED.

Note: The camera will take approximately one hour to fully charge, but may take longer.

Check Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

The Google Clips app needs access to Bluetooth and WiFi to find and connect to your camera.

Turn on Bluetooth:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Bluetooth.
3. Make sure Bluetooth is on.

Turn on Wi-Fi:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Wi-Fi.
3. Make sure Wi-Fi is on.

Disable any VPNs or mobile hotspots

VPNs and mobile hotspots can prevent the Google Clips app from connecting to your camera over Wi-Fi.

Turn off any VPNs:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap General.
3. Scroll down and tap on VPN.
4. Disable or remove any VPN configurations.

Turn off personal hotspot:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Personal Hotspot. If you don't see Personal Hotspot, no action is needed.
3. Turn off the Personal Hotspot.

Note: If you use VPN or hotspot and tethering apps, you may need to disable them to connect to your camera.

Confirm Google Clips is set up

You can confirm your camera is set up and ready to connect by checking the LEDs on the camera.

Twist the lens on the camera to start capturing and check the LEDs on your camera:

• If the center LED on your camera slowly pulses white when the camera lens is twisted clockwise, your camera is set up properly and can capture.
• If the top and bottom LEDs on your camera are alternating white, your camera has not been set up in the Google Clips app or has been removed from the app. Set up your camera in order to connect.

Reboot your phone and camera

Try rebooting your phone and camera:

• To reboot your phone, press and hold the power button to turn your phone off. Press the power button again to turn the phone back on.
• To reboot Google Clips:
  1. Take the camera out of the clip stand.
  2. Locate the small pinhole button on the bottom of the camera near the charging port.
  3. Take the point of a pen or paper clip and quickly press the pinhole button. Be careful not to press and hold the pinhole button for too long or you'll risk accidentally performing a factory reset of your Google Clips camera.
  4. The center LED on your camera will pulse white while the camera is rebooting.

Reset Google Clips

Factory resetting Google Clips will reset the camera to its default factory settings. To factory reset your camera:

1. Take the camera out of the clip stand.
2. Locate the small pinhole button on the bottom of the camera near the charging port.
3. Take the point of a pen or paper clip and push the pinhole button for about 10 seconds until you see the center LED pulse orange.
4. Your camera's LEDs will show volleying white lights while the camera is resetting. This may take up to 5 minutes.
5. When the reset is finished, you can set up your camera again in the Google Clips app.

Note: This action will erase your data from your camera and can't be undone. You'll have to set up your Google Clips camera and teach it familiar faces again to continue usage.
