Record a video

You can record real time and slow motion videos.

Record a video

  1. Open your camera.
  2. To switch to video mode, tap Video camera Video camera.
  3. To start recording, tap Record Record.
  4. To put a cut in your video, tap Pause Pause. To start recording again, tap Record Record.
  5. To stop recording, tap Stop Stop.
Change camera settings

To adjust how your camera takes video, use the icons at your screen's top right.

  • To use gridlines to straighten photos: Tap Show grid Show grid.
  • To adjust the photo to match the lighting ("color temperature"): Tap Add filters Add filters.
  • To use a flash: Tap Flash mode Flash mode.
  • To change how smooth the video looks (Pixel phones only): Tap Frame rate 30 frames per second / 60 frames per second.
Take a photo while recording

To take a high-resolution photo while recording a video, tap Shutter Shutter.

Record slow motion videos

If you have a Pixel device, Nexus 6P, or Nexus 5X, you can take slow motion videos.

  1. Open your device's Google Camera app Google Camera.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Slow Motion.
  3. To start recording, tap Record Record.
  4. To stop recording, tap Stop Stop.

On Pixel and Nexus 6P devices, to record very high speeds in slow motion, tap 120 FPS.
