Change your Google Camera app settings on your Pixel phone

You can change your photo and video settings. For example, you can turn location stamps on or off, save storage space, and control dirty lens warnings.

Turn off shutter sound

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. At the top, tap the Down arrow Down arrow and then Settings Settings.
  3. Turn off Camera sounds.

Turn off photo & video location stamps

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. At the top, tap Down arrow and then Settings Settings.
  3. Turn off Save location.

Tip: To view a timestamp for any photo, in the bottom right corner, tap the photo and then More More. If you leave location stamps on, you’ll also see the photo location.

Reduce resolution to save storage space

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. At the top, tap Down arrow and then Settings Settings.
  3. Choose your resolution.
    • Under "Photo," tap Camera photo resolution.
    • Under "Video," turn off Ultra-high resolution video (4K).

Adjust your camera lens

Take a panorama
  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. Tap More and then Panorama Panorama.
  3. Tap Capture Capture photo.
  4. Hold the lens steady while you move the camera horizontally. Be sure to keep the white frame aligned.
  5. When you're done capturing your image, tap Done Done.
Tip: To cancel a photo, tap Close Close.
Take a 360-degree Photo Sphere
  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. Tap More and then Photo Sphere and then the Down arrow Down arrow.
    • To take a 360-degree photo, tap Panorama photo sphere Panorama photo sphere.
    • To take a horizontal photo, tap Horizontal horizontal panorama.
    • To take a vertical photo, tap Vertical vertical panorama.
    • To take a photo with a wide arc, tap Wide-angle Wide-angle panorama.
    • To take a fisheye photo, tap Fisheye Fisheye.
  3. Hold the target circle over a white dot. The dot will turn blue, then disappear.
  4. Move the camera to the next white dot as you hold the lens steady.
  5. Repeat until there are no more white dots, or tap Done Done.

Turn off dirty lens warnings

You may get a warning message if your camera senses that the lens is dirty. To turn off these messages:

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. At the top, tap the Down arrow Down arrow.
  3. Tap Settings Settings and then Advanced More.
  4. Turn off Show dirty lens warning.

Change what your volume buttons do

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. At the top, tap the Down arrow Down arrow
  3. Tap Settings Settings and then Gestures and then Volume key action.
  4. Select an option.

Turn on flash

To turn on flash for brighter photos:

  1. Open the Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how
  2. To turn on flash, tap the Down arrow Down arrow and then Flash Flash mode.
