Change your photo and video settings

You can change what happens when you take photos and photo bursts.

Turn off shutter sound

  1. Open your camera.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Turn off Camera shutter sounds.

Turn off photo burst slideshows, collages & GIFs

On a Pixel or Nexus 6P phone, you can change how your camera uses photo burst photos.

Note: You can’t turn off photo burst.

  1. Open your camera.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Tap Burst settings.
  4. Turn off Auto-generate creations.

Turn off photo & video location stamps

You can stop Google Camera from automatically attaching your location to your photos.

  1. Open your camera.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Under "General," turn off Save location.

Tip: To see a time stamp for any photo, tap the photo in the bottom corner and then Information Information. If you leave location stamps on, you’ll also see the photo location.

Save storage space

You can save space on your phone by reducing how much detail your photos and videos pick up and how many photos your camera saves.

Reduce resolution

  1. Open your camera.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Under "Photo" or "Video," pick which camera you want to adjust.
  4. Tap the resolution you want.

Limit size of bursts (Nexus 6P only)

  1. Open your camera.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Tap Burst settings.
  4. Turn on Smartburst.
