Change photo & video settings on your Pixel phone

You can change your photo and video settings. For example, you can turn location stamps on or off, save storage space, and control dirty lens warnings.

Turn off shutter sound

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. Tap More and then Settings.
  3. Turn off Camera sounds.

Turn off photo & video location stamps

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. Tap More and then Settings.
  3. Turn off Save location.

Tip: To see a timestamp for any photo, in the bottom corner, tap the photo and then More More and then Info. If you leave location stamps on, you’ll also see the photo location.

Change what your volume buttons do

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. Tap More and then Settings.
  3. Tap Gestures and then Volume key action.
  4. Pick an option.

Reduce resolution to save storage space

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. Tap More and then Settings.
  3. Under "Photo" or "Video," pick which camera you want to adjust.
  4. Tap the resolution you want.

Turn off dirty lens warnings

If your camera thinks the lens is dirty, a warning message shows. To turn off these messages:

  1. Open your Google Camera app Google Camera. Learn how.
  2. Tap More and then Settings.
  3. Tap Advanced.
  4. Turn off Show dirty lens warning.
