Enable and disable APIs

Enabling an API associates it with the current project, adds monitoring pages, and enables billing for that API if billing is enabled for the project.

Enable an API

To enable an API for your project:

  1. Go to the API Console.
  2. From the projects list, select a project or create a new one.
  3. If the APIs & services page isn't already open, open the console left side menu and select APIs & services, and then select Library.
  4. Click the API you want to enable. If you need help finding the API, use the search field.
  5. Click ENABLE.

Note: The process of enabling an API varies depending on the API. Some APIs will prompt you to accept their Terms of Service before you can enable them. Some APIs are in preview mode, meaning that they require special signup and whitelisting before you can use them. Others might ask for additional information, such as your organization's contact information and the name of the application you are developing. When more information is requested, it will not be shared outside of Google; it's used to help Google understand how the API is being used and as a secondary contact should we need to contact you regarding your use of the service.

Disable an API

You can disable an API for a project at any time, although any pending fees will still be charged to your account and you'll be charged for any billable API use in your projects. For more information, see APIs and Billing.

To disable an API for your project:
