'Targeting' in Google Shopping: Changing product titles 0 Recommended Answers 3 Replies 0 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I have connected our WooCommerce store to merchant center via API feed, so all products are automatically synced. Since Google Shopping doesn't work with traditional keyword/placement targeting and mostly uses product title & description for that - at least that is my impression - what is recommended to optimize targeting in that sense? I don't want to load my product titles full of keywords.

Also: The product titles that are being automatically passed on to Merchant Center are very simple - for internal use so far. How can I change them in Merchant Center - or for Google Shopping - if those listings are always automatically updated via feed plugin?

thanks,
Johannes

a feed-rule or supplemental-feed (which is a feed-rule in the form of a file),
may be used to override data that is being submitted from the primary-feed --
including the content-api.

note that the new title must identify the exact physical inventory item
being sold and shipped -- or is otherwise a policy-violation and grounds
for the items to be removed, disapproved, or a suspension, at any time;
for example, do not simply add random keywords to gain an impression.

of course, the best course is to change such data, at the source,
so that the website/landing-page and submitted data match exactly,
whenever possible.

Thank you!

How can you implement such a feed rule to override title and description?

first, you're welcome.

for a feed-rule, the specific rule would depend on
exactly what is submitted and exactly what is wanted --
generally, a separate rule per attribute is required.

for a supplemental-feed, generally, simply use a tab-delimited .tsv file,
or a google-sheet, with a column for id and columns for just the attributes
to be overridden, for the specific items that are wanted to be overridden;
for example, id, and title or description or both, for all, or a subset, of items.

which to use -- a feed-rule or supplemental-feed --
typically depends on inventory size, and exactly what
is wanted to be changed slightly, or replaced entirely.
