Fix refund requests with canceled accounts

This article explains how to cancel your Google Ads account and request a refund.

Cancel your account

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Admin icon Admin Icon.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click the drop-down menu next to Account Status.
  4. Select Cancel my account.
  5. Click Save.
  6. After canceling your account, a refund will be processed automatically if there is a balance remaining.  The processing time varies depending on your payment method (details in the next section). You can go to the Billing Summary to check the details and status of your refund.

Check the payment method

  1. In your Google Ads account, click the Billing icon Billing Icon.
  2. Click Payment methods.
  3. Locate the payment method used.
  4. Refer to the table below to find out how long it takes to process your refund, based on your payment method.
Payment method Refund processing time
Credit card 2–3 weeks*
Bank transfer 3–4 weeks
SEPA (direct debit) 8 weeks

* Excludes the amount of time that the credit card company takes to process your request

If you haven't received your refund within the expected timeframe, contact your bank or payment provider or reach out to Google Ads support.

If the refund wasn't automatically initiated, you may see a 'Complete your refund' option to complete the bank refund form.

Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, South Korea and Ukraine: Local forms of payment (for example, Boleto, Banelco, OXXO, etc.) can be refunded once you provide your bank account details to make sure that your refund is processed. The estimated processing time is about 4 weeks.
