Edit your Local campaign

Once you have set up a Local campaign, you can advertise your store across many of Google’s networks. You may also want to make changes to improve your campaign's performance or to adapt to shifts in your business needs.

This article goes over how to review and edit your campaign’s settings.

How to access your campaign

  1. Sign into your Google Ads account.
  2. Click Campaigns in the page menu to see a full list of your Google Ads campaigns.
  3. In this list, click the name of your Local campaign to see its overview.

How to change campaign settings

  1. Click Settings to view and edit the operating parameters that you set up when you created your campaign.
  2. Click any of the categories to expand their cards.
  3. Select your options or fill in your new values. These settings include:
    • Campaign name
    • Status
    • Languages
    • Bidding Strategy
    • Budget
    • Start and end dates
  4. Click Save at the bottom right of the card to apply the new settings.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for every setting you want to change.

How to edit assets

  1. Sign into your Google Ads account.
  2. Click Local campaigns from the navigation panel.
  3. Click Ad groups from the page menu.
  4. Click the name of the ad group that you want to edit assets for.
  5. You can review your assets at a glance on the "Ad assets" page.
    • You can also click preview tabs to see how your ad looks in Google Maps, Display, Search or on YouTube.
  6. To edit, click the pencil icon Edit above the asset list.
  7. On the "Ad assets" page, you can edit, replace or remove any of the assets, including:
    • Final URL
    • Display path
    • Headline
    • Description
    • Call-to-action
    • Images
    • Videos
  8. Click Save and continue.

How to edit audiences

It is recommended to target your Local campaign to a broad audience, and Local campaigns will automatically optimise for offline conversions.  Specific audiences can be added for observation (recommended) or as filters.

  1. Click Audiences in the page menu to view the audience lists for your campaign.
  2. Click the pencil icon Edit or on Audiences at the bottom.
  3. Click the pencil icon Edit to browse your ad groups.
  4. Select an ad group, and then select one of the ad group’s audiences.
  5. Click Save.

How to exclude geographic locations

Geographic radius targeting will be inferred based on the physical business locations specified for your campaign. If needed, you can exclude certain geographic locations from your campaign. 

  1. From the navigation panel, click the name of the campaign or campaign type that you are excluding locations from.
  2. From the page menu, click Locations to view and edit the campaign's locations.
  3. Click the Excluded tab to view your campaign's excluded locations.
  4. Click the pencil icon Edit or Edit locations to make location exclusions.
  5. Fill out the “Enter locations to exclude” field and select from the list that populates as you type.
    • To exclude multiple locations, click Add locations in bulk. You can place one city, postcode, country, etc. per line and click Search to find the specific location. You can then click Exclude for each location to exclude, or Exclude all to exclude every result from your search.
  6. Click Save to confirm your location and add it to the list.
