Set up business data feeds

Use Business data to import and manage your data in Google Ads. You can create and manage multiple data feeds across your campaigns to maximise the use of features like targeting and ad extensions.

You’ll upload some of these sources yourself. Other sources, like phone numbers and sitelinks from your ad extensions, are automated.

This article explains how to upload and view your business data sets or feeds.

Unicode encoding supported

Business data supports UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32 (it's best to use UTF-8). The data transformation between these formats is lossless.

Business data doesn't support UTF7, UTF1, UTF-EBCDIC, SCSU, BOCU, GB-18030, Latin 1 or ISO-8859-1.

Upload your data file

  1. Sign in to your AdWords account.
  2. From Shared library in the left-hand navigation bar, choose Business data.
  3. Click +DATA and choose the sort of data that you’d like to add.
  4. Name your new data source.
    1. It’s best to use a short name without any spaces.
    2. Make sure that you don't re-use the name of an old data set or feed that you've removed. AdWords can only recognise new names.
  5. Click Browse for file and choose the file that you’d like to upload. Keep in mind that the size limit for .csv and .tsv files is 500MB and 50MB for other file types.
  6. Click on Upload and apply.
  7. Click the Upload history tab to see your recent uploads. Under the “ACTIONS” column, you can Download results if the upload was successful, or Download errors to see what you can fix.

View your data feed details

  1. From Shared library in the left-hand navigation bar, choose Business data.
  2. Click on the data source that you’d like to look at.
  3. You’ll see a detailed view of that data source.
  4. Go to Columns, then choose Modify columns.
  5. Click Performance to show statistics for how ads performed when a particular item appeared with the ad.
  6. Click Level of detail to show more detail by campaign, ad group or ad.
  7. Click Add next to any of the metrics.
  8. Click Apply.
