Fix a disapproved ad

If any of your ads are disapproved, it unfortunately means that the ad isn't able to run at the moment. To get your ad up and running, find out which ad was disapproved and then edit it so that it meets our advertising policies.

This article explains how to find out why your ad was disapproved, then how to fix the issue and resubmit your ad for approval.

Instructions

The new Google Ads experience is now the exclusive way for most users to manage their accounts. Note, automatic targeting is only available in the new Google Ads experience.

The steps to fix your ad vary depending on the type of policy violation impacting your ad. Your ad itself may not be compliant with specific Google Ads policies (for example, your ad is not compliant with our Editorial policy), or there may be issues with your destination (for example, your destination is not working, or your destination has content that’s not allowed). First, check which policy is affecting your ad, and then follow the applicable steps below.

Ads with policy violations not related to your destination

If your ad is affected by policies not related to the destination, below are steps to fix the ad:

  1. Go to the "Ads and extensions" page and find the ad or extension you want to fix.
  2. Hover over the ad or extension and click Edit.
  3. Edit the ad or extension so that it complies with the policy.
  4. Click Save. Your ad will be automatically reviewed again. Check the ad’s status in the “Ads and extensions” page for updates.

Ads with policy violations related to your destination

Follow the steps below for ads with policy violations related to your destination. For example, your destination may not be working, or your destination may contain content that’s not allowed (for example, your destination offers content related to gambling in countries where it’s not allowed).

  1. Fix your destination so that it complies with Google Ads policy.

    If your disapproved ad is an expanded text ad, a standard text ad, or a Responsive Search Ad, follow the steps below to resubmit your ad for review directly from your Google Ads account. For all other ad types, use the Disapproved ads and policy questions form to resubmit your ad for review.

  2. Resubmit your ad for review.

    After you’ve fixed your destination, click Ads and extensions in the left page menu. From here, there are two ways to get to the “Policy violations” page, where you can resubmit ads for review:

    Resubmit your ad from the “Ads and extensions” table:

    1. Select the ads you want to resubmit for review.
    2. In the menu at the top, click Edit.
    3. Click Resubmit for review. You’ll be taken to the “Policy violations” page. If any of the ads selected aren’t eligible for resubmitting, you’ll see a message showing that the ads aren’t eligible.
    4. Under “Reason for resubmitting”, select Made changes to comply with policy.
    5. Under “Resubmit the following”, select which ads you want to resubmit for this policy violation.
    6. Click Submit.
     

    Resubmit your ad from an individual ad’s status column:

    1. In the “Status” column of the ad you want to resubmit, hover over the ad status, and click Resubmit for review.
    2. Under “Reason for resubmitting”, select Made changes to comply with policy.
    3. Under “Resubmit the following”, select which ads you want to resubmit for this policy violation.
    4. Click Submit.

On the “Policy violations” page, you’ll see panels for all the policy violations that you can resubmit ads for. You can resubmit ads for as many policy violations as needed.
