Google Ads Search campaign not running: Certain features used in ad campaigns

Your campaign may not be running or may have a temporary spending limit if your account is under a standard security review. This can happen if:

  • Your account has been inactive for a period of time.
  • Your account doesn't have a history of policy compliance.
  • There are unconfirmed users or domains associated with your account.

During the review, a temporary daily spending cap may be placed in your account, which is automatically lifted when security checks are completed. You won’t find a notification in your account about this review.

What you can do

To get your ads running again, you'll need to complete one of the following:

Complete advertiser verification

Advertiser verification is a process where Google verifies the identity and business operations of advertisers. It's a requirement for certain features and helps ensure a safe and trustworthy ad ecosystem. Learn more about Advertiser verification.

To complete your advertiser verification:

  1. Access verification tasks in your account: In your Google Ads account, go to Admin Admin Icon. Select Account within the Policy menu. Look for the verification task, select Start task, and follow the provided instructions.

Resolve policy violations

To resolve policy violations and get your ads running again, follow these steps:

  1. Find the policy violation: Go to Policy Manager in your Google Ads account or check the status column for your ads. Hover over the status to see the specific policy violation.
  2. Fix the issues:
    • Ads and landing page: Edit your ad copy, images, videos, and landing page to comply with the policy.
    • Certifications: If required (for example, for financial services, healthcare and medicines), apply for the necessary certifications through Google. Make sure to provide all required documentation.

Resolve security holds

If you suspect your account is on a security hold, here are steps you can take:

  1. Review account administrators: Go to Access and security within the Admin menu. Ensure all users with administrative access are authorized.
  2. Add allowed domains: In the Access and security section under the “Security” tab, add the email domains of all authorized users to the “Allowed domains” list. This helps Google verify legitimate account activity.
  3. Maintain good payment and policy history: Ensure your payments are successful and on time, and that your ads comply with Google Ads policies. A positive history helps the system build trust in your account and can lead to increases in spending limits over time.

If the steps above don't work, you can also try to link your account to a Manager Account (MCC) with a history of policy compliance.
