Introducing Brand Recommendations in Google Ads

June 6, 2024

We’re excited to announce that Brand Recommendations powered by Google AI are now live in the Recommendations page of Google Ads. These tailored Brand Recommendations are a new addition that span across both awareness and consideration campaigns (cost-per-thousand [CPM] and cost-per-view [CPV]) and will appear alongside current existing performance related recommendations for cost per action campaigns, providing a full funnel of optimization choices for advertisers to apply.

The Recommendations tab in the Google Ads UI

Brand Recommendations are a part of the Recommendations section in Google Ads that analyzes the advertiser’s Google Ads account history, campaign settings, and trends across Google to automatically generate recommendations to help advertisers improve the effectiveness and performance of their campaigns. Recommendations can introduce advertisers to new, relevant features and help advertisers better achieve their campaign goals with the most up-to-date Google Ads best practices.

Advertisers can now leverage the Recommendations page to optimize their CPM or CPV campaigns for maximum brand impact. The recommendations advertisers receive are customized to be relevant to each advertiser and are constantly updating. Make sure to check the recommendations frequently, as Google Ads regularly discovers recommendations for each advertiser and launches new recommendation types.

5 Categories of Brand Recommendations to help optimize brand campaigns

Ads and assets

"Ads and assets" recommendations help advertisers refine brand ads, create new ads, show the best performing ads most often, and organize ads into better ad groups. Assets recommendation types, in particular, help maximize ad performance and can better help advertisers achieve their brand goals. Below are some examples of these types of recommendations:

Bidding and Budgets

"Bidding and budgets" recommendations can help advertisers find the right bid strategy to meet their business goals and help ensure ad campaigns aren’t limited by bids or budgets.

These recommendations include impact estimates to help advertisers understand how related adjustments can help grow brand awareness or increase market share by attracting new customers. These recommendations will appear when an increase in a bid or budget can result in an even larger increase to your brand goals. Below are some examples of these types of recommendations:

  • Adjust your CPM Budgets for flighted budgets
  • Adjust your CPV Budgets for flighted budgets
  • Adjust your tCPM Bids

Keywords and Targeting

"Keywords and targeting" recommendations can help advertisers reach more people who are interested in what they offer. Below are some examples of these types of recommendations:

Measurement recommendations help unlock additional reporting features that can give advertisers better insights into campaign performance. Below are some examples of these types of recommendations:
