Give a place a private label

You can add a private label to places on your map. Labeled places show up on your map, in search suggestions, in Saved Save place, and in Google Photos.

To add a label, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Search for an address. Or drop a pin by tapping and holding a place on the map.
  3. At the bottom, tap the name of the place.
  4. Tap Label.

Tips:

  • To add a label to a business, go to the place’s page and tap More More and then Add label.
  • If you have Google contacts, they might appear as suggestions when you're adding a label. Learn more about adding a contact.
  • You need Web & App Activity turned on to give a place a label.
Edit a label
  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Tap Saved Save place. Under "Your lists," tap Labeled.

  3. Tap the label you want to edit.
  4. At the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
  5. Tap Label.
  6. Enter a new label name.
  7. Tap Add label.
Delete a label
  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Tap Saved Save place. Under "Your lists," tap Labeled.

  3. Beside the label you want to delete, tap More More and then Remove label.
  4. You'll see the message "Your label was removed." If you didn't want to delete the label, tap Undo.
Find a labeled place on the map
  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Tap Saved Save place. Under "Your lists," tap Labeled.

  3. Tap a label you want to see on the map.
