Using your Android's data connection
Glass works best when it's connected to the Internet. To get the most out of Glass when out of Wi-Fi range, you'll need to pair your phone via the MyGlass Android app. To pair with Glass, go to the Devices menu and select your Glass from the menu.
The Settings bundle indicates whether Glass is using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi data for Internet.
The Bluetooth card in the Settings bundle also notifies you of Glass's active connection.
Creating a portable Wi-Fi hotspot
Another option for getting data on-the-go is a portable Wi-Fi hotspot. Depending on your service provider's plan, you can set up a portable Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone and have Glass use it for its data connection.
Setting up a hotspot bypasses the need to pair your device by Bluetooth and instead sets up a Wi-Fi network using your phone or tablet.
Set up a portable Wi-Fi hotspot on most Android devices
- Open Settings.
- Under Wireless & Networks, select More > Tethering & portable hotspot.
- Configure or turn on your phone's portable hotspot. (Bluetooth tethering can also be turned on or off here.)
Depending on your data plan, charges to your account can be incurred and some carriers charge an additional service fee. We highly recommend contacting your service provider for more information on data charges.
