gemini app activity not currently available for your account type

I'm having an issue seemingly exclusively on my main account where, when trying to enable gemini app activity, the "Turn on" button is greyed out and a popup informs "This setting is not currently available for your account type"

I've been through a bunch of documented troubleshooting I will list what I can;
The account is not a workplace account
The user is over 18
The users country is supported
All other accounts used by the user function as expected 
The same error is encountered on separate devices
Web and App Activity is all enabled
The account is not associated with a family link
Locked
Informational notification.

Hi User have you looked at settings elsewhere like control your Web and App Activity? There may be a setting there that you have turned off that prevents Gemini from being used? Perhaps you’ve opted out of something there that is required for Gemini Activity.

As far as I can tell all settings relating to saving activity are enabled.

I have been having the exact same issue and keeps telling me offer not valid or issue with account and I have no idea where to go or who to even start to talk to to get any answers or issues resolved and I'm going quite mad after spending quite a bit on a new pixel 9 pro fold and not being able to get any real help

Commenting that you've experienced the same issue is unhelpful.

  • Go to Google Account Settings.
  • Navigate to Data & Personalization > Activity Controls.
  • Ensure that Web & App Activity is turned on for your main account.
  • Check Manage Activity to see if there are any restrictions on the Gemini app data.
 also you ca clear cache sometimes help to solve problems
also Make sure Gemini has all necessary permissions on your device, especially for collecting activity data:
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Gemini > Permissions.
  • Ensure Storage, Location, and any other required permissions are granted.

A few things,

Your path is outdated, I stated that web and app activity is enabled, clearing the Gemini app cashe wouldn't fix an issue with only one account or the same account on a different device, changing the settings/ permissions in the Gemini app also wouldn't work for the same reason.

I can tell from your slightly broken English that you have just copied common fixes for a similar issue. The most useful feedback I can give you is that if you have nothing to add, don't bother.

@Fred, while I’m Diamond in a number of places, here I’m unable to do some tasks like escalations etc., so I’m going to suggest to you that you escalate this thread to see if Googlers can sort this out. No point in us spitting in the wind with something we can’t adequately answer, especially something that is account related which none of us have access to as Product Experts.

Oooky, i think i find what was wrong.

I observed that i can't enable some settings, like personalized ads and some kind of history of something...and i dug into settings until i saw that my age is not confirmed, like i don't have over 18 years old :))) i confirmed it, aaaaand voilaaaa! Everything i wanted to turn on or off, is available! :))) very strange thing but give it a try and tell me if it workwed mates!
