Download your Gemini Apps data

You can export and download your Gemini Apps data. Use this article if you want to download only your Gemini Apps data. If you want to download your data from multiple Google products, follow the steps to download your Google data.

Important: If you download your Gemini Apps activity, it doesn’t delete it from Google’s servers. Learn how to delete your Gemini Apps activity.

Step 1: Select your Gemini Apps data

  1. Go to takeout.google.com.
    • Make sure to sign in to the same Google Account that you use for Gemini Apps.
    • Your data from most Google products and services is included in the export by default. This includes your Gemini Apps data.
  2. Under "Select data to include," select Deselect all.
  3. To include your Gemini Gems data, check the box next to “Gemini.”
  4. To include data from your Gemini Apps Activity, like your Gemini chats, generated media, and uploads:
    1. Check the box next to “My Activity.”
    2. Select All activity data included.
    3. In the pop-up, select Deselect all.
    4. Check the box next to “Gemini Apps.”
    5. Select Ok.
  5. Scroll down and select Next step.
Important: Your data file may not include changes made to your data between when you request a download and when you create your archive. Learn more about what data may not be included.

Step 2: Customize your archive format

After you select your Gemini Apps data, choose how you want to receive your archive and its format.

Part 1: Choose a delivery method
  • Send download link via email: We'll email you a link to download your Google data archive. This link is active for 7 days.
  • Add to Drive: We'll add your archive to Google Drive and email you a link to its location. Your data will count toward your storage.
  • Add to Dropbox: We'll upload your archive to your Dropbox and email you a link to its location.
  • Add to OneDrive: We'll upload your archive to your Microsoft OneDrive folder and email you a link to its location.
  • Add to Box: We'll upload your archive to your Box folder and email you a link to its location.

Important: If you choose a third-party service:

  • To keep your data private, make sure you're not sharing the folder with anyone else.
  • When your archive reaches the third-party service, Google is no longer responsible for it. Your archive will be governed by that service’s terms and policies.
Part 2: Choose the export frequency

You can create a single archive or automate recurring exports.

  • To create a single archive and export it one time, select Export once.
  • To automatically create archives and export them on a recurring basis, select the frequency you want.
Part 3: Choose the file type & max size of your archive
  1. Select the file format for your archive: .zip or .tgz.
    • Zip files can be opened on almost any computer.
    • Tgz files may require additional software, such as 7-Zip, to open on Windows.
  2. Select the maximum size for your archive. If the data you’re downloading is larger than this size, multiple archives will be created.
  3. Select Create export or Link accounts and create an export.
  4. If you chose to deliver the archive to a third-party service, follow the on-screen instructions to link your accounts.

Step 3: Get your Gemini Apps data archive

  • Once we create and deliver your archive, we’ll email you a link to its location.
  • Depending on the amount of data you’re exporting, it can take a few hours to a few days. Most people get the link to their archive the same day that they request it.
  • If you’re enrolled in the Advanced Protection Program, we’ll schedule your archive for two days in the future.
