Find places & get directions in Gemini Apps

You can ask Gemini Apps to help you find, get details for, and navigate to places. Gemini uses public information from Google Maps to help you:

Find places such as business, stores, restaurants, parks and attractions
Get addresses, descriptions, websites, ratings, and opening hours for a place
Get directions based on mode of transport and help you avoid things like tolls

Tip: Gemini Apps can still use your saved Work and Home locations from your Google Account to get directions for you. Gemini can also use your device location with your permission.

What you need

Be signed in to the Gemini app. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
Keep Activity on. This feature isn’t available when this setting is off.

Important:

For now, this feature isn’t available in Live chats.
This feature isn’t available in Gemini in Google Messages.

Get directions & info about a place

On your phone or tablet, open the Gemini mobile app or go to gemini.google.com.
Ask Gemini to give you directions or find info about a place.

Give me directions to the place.
How long is the drive from Atlanta to Orlando and give me some ideas for how to keep 3 kids entertained in the car.

Get more details about a place & perform common actions

To open a place’s details page, you can tap:

The place’s linked name or preview card in Gemini’s response
The place’s pin on the full screen map

On the place’s details page, if available, you can:

Find basic details about the place
Browse images and videos of the place
Read reviews
Get an AI summary of the place

To open the place in Google Maps, tap Open in Maps.

Show an interactive map & open in Google Maps

You can open an interactive map of the places mentioned in your chat. Just tap the map in Gemini’s response.

To save all pinned places on a map to a custom Google Maps list, tap Export to Google Maps.

What Gemini Apps can’t do with Google Maps

The following actions aren’t supported in Gemini Apps when it connects to Google Maps:

Save your location history
Use your saved places, other than work or home
Provide live traffic updates
Add a review to a place
