When you link your Spotify account to your Google Account, you can ask the Gemini mobile app to play or search for music or podcasts on Spotify. For example, you can ask for music by song, album, artist, playlist, and more.
What you need
To connect Spotify to Gemini Apps on an Android phone or tablet, you need to:
- Use the Gemini mobile app, including as your mobile assistant. Learn more about the Gemini mobile app.
- Be signed in to the Gemini mobile app. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.
- Have Keep Activity on. Gemini can’t connect to Spotify when this setting is off.
Important:
- For now, Spotify isn’t available in Gemini in Google Messages, the Gemini web app, or Live chats.
- Spotify plays the specific song or podcast you requested only if you have a Spotify Premium subscription.
- You can also say 'Hey Google' to ask Gemini to use a connected app. If "Hey Google" doesn’t work, check if “Hey Google” and Voice Match are set up.
Connect Spotify to Gemini Apps
To connect to Spotify, your Spotify account must be linked to your Google Account. You might have already linked it through another Google service. If not, follow the steps below to connect Spotify to your Google Account through the Gemini mobile app.
- Ask the Gemini app to play, search, or browse media on Spotify.
- If Spotify isn’t connected, you’ll get the option to connect it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.

Play or search for media on Spotify
Important: If you connected more than one media app and don’t specify one in your request, Gemini uses the last media app you used. To use another one that’s available, you can mention the media service or “@” mention it in your prompt.
