If your lock screen setting is on, Gemini can help you with quick voice actions when your phone is locked. When you say “Hey Google” or activate Gemini by touch when your phone is locked you can do things like:
- Set, stop, and snooze alarms
- Set and stop timers
- Control media, like pause a song
- Control some phone features, like turn on the flashlight and change the volume
Important: Your Gemini mobile app can’t perform some tasks that Google Assistant can perform on lock screen, like reading messages or answering questions. In these cases, you’ll need to unlock your phone.

Turn your Gemini mobile app’s lock screen setting on or off
- On your Android phone, open Gemini

- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Settings.
- Tap Features powered by Google Assistant
- To access the Google Assistant features menu, if needed, first turn on Use Google Assistant features.
- Turn Responses on lock screen on or off.
