Generate and edit images with Gemini Apps

You can create captivating images in seconds with Nano Banana 2. From work to play or anything in between, Gemini Apps can help you generate and refine images to help bring your imagination to life. For paid subscribers, Nano Banana Pro is also available to regenerate images.

What you need

This feature's availability in any specific Gemini app is also limited to the supported languages and countries of that app.
This feature isn't available to users under 18 (or the applicable age in your country) signed in to their personal Google Account. If you are signed in to a school account, you may be subject to different access restrictions.

Generate and review images

On your computer, go to gemini.google.com.
Click Create image.

Edit images with Nano Banana 2

Important: Editing images isn't available to users under 18.

With Nano Banana 2, there are a few ways that you can edit images. For example, you can:

Edit an image that you generated in Gemini Apps.
Upload an image and ask Gemini to make edits.
Upload multiple images and ask Gemini to create a new image based on your uploaded images.

In the text box at the bottom, enter your prompt.
- Tip: You can upload an image to edit or ask Gemini to edit a generated image.
Click Submit .

Redo an image with Nano Banana Pro

Paid subscribers can use Nano Banana Pro to regenerate an image. Nano Banana Pro can provide additional detail, especially for images that use text rendering or for infographics. To use Nano Banana Pro:

Create an image with Nano Banana 2.
At the bottom right, click More Redo with Pro.

Important: If you reach your daily quota of Nano Banana 2 images, you can't redo any additional images with Nano Banana Pro.

Connect Google Photos to edit and transform photos

Important: This feature is only available to users aged 18 and over in the US, although it isn't available in some regions of the US. You must be signed in to your personal Google Account and subscribed to a Google AI plan to use it.

To use Nano Banana to edit and transform your photos, you can connect Google Photos to Gemini Apps to easily access your photos. To connect Google Photos:

In the Gemini web app

On your computer, go to gemini.google.com.
At the bottom, click Settings and help Personal Intelligence Connected Apps.
Turn on Google Photos .
Follow the on-screen instructions.

In the Gemini in Chrome

On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top of Gemini in Chrome, click More options Settings and help Personal Intelligence Connected Apps.
Turn on Google Photos .
Follow the on-screen instructions.

Download, share or export a generated image

To download an image:

Hover over the image that you want to download and click Download full size

To export an image:

Under the image, click More .
Click Export to Docs .
Open the doc to continue editing.

Important: Users under 18 on a school account won't be able to export to Docs.

Tips for image generation prompts

Start your prompt with words like draw, generate and create.
Describe the image style that you want. Here are a few examples: photorealistic, charcoal drawing, watercolour painting, cartoon illustration.
Include a detailed visual description of what you want in the image. This can include the subject of the image, what the subject is doing and the background or setting.

How image generation works with Personal Intelligence

Important: Nano Banana with Personal Intelligence is only available to users aged 18 and over in the US. To use this feature, you must sign in to a personal Google Account with a Google AI subscription. The Google Photos connected app currently isn’t available in some US regions.

You can ask Gemini to create or edit highly personalised images using Personal Intelligence. With your permission, Gemini can understand and retrieve info from across your Google apps, past chats and more to understand your unique style, life and preferences. It then uses the latest Nano Banana model to create and edit images that are tailored entirely to you.

Create a watercolour image of my dream house nestled in my favourite setting.
Create a claymation image of me and my family enjoying our favourite activity. We want to be standing in the centre of the image, staring straight ahead.

Gemini can use the labels that you’ve set up in Google Photos to identify people and pets to generate images of them with Nano Banana.

Tip: To create images of other people from your Google Photos, make sure that their face group is named. Learn how to set up and manage your face groups.
