Please don’t include any personal or sensitive health information, such as step, calorie, heart-rate, sleep, or exercise data, or heart health information when asking questions in the Community.  

Update your profile & goals

You can fill out profile information like your height, weight, and gender for better fitness accuracy. You can also set a personal fitness goal. If you have a Wear OS smartwatch, you can set a goal for each workout.

Tip: To find the distance you've gone and how many calories you've burned, fill out your profile.

Step 1: Enter your physical information

  1. On your phone, open the Google Fit app Google Fit.
  2. At the bottom, tap Profile.
  3. Enter your height, weight, age, and gender.

Change the units for weight, height, and distance

  1. In the "Profile" section, at the top, tap Settings Settings.
  2. Under "Units," select your units of measurement.

Step 2: Create a personal fitness goal

Important: You start with the default daily goals you selected the first time you used the Fit app. The app adjusts your goals based on your activity. You can also set your own goals.

  1. On your phone, open the Google Fit app Google Fit.
  2. At the bottom, tap Profile.
  3. Enter your desired Steps and Heart Point goals.

Get notifications to help meet your goals 

You can get notifications and tips on your Android device to help you reach your Heart Points and Steps goals.

Types of notifications 

You can choose which notifications you want to receive: 

  • Activity tips: Help you meet physical activity recommendations.
  • Goal progress tips: Help you meet your activity goals.
  • Goal adjustment: Suggestions to help you increase or decrease your goals.
  • Completed goals: Updates when you reach your daily goals.

Turn coaching messages on or off 

Important: To get coaching notifications, you must allow Google Fit app notifications on your Android device.

  1. On your Android phone, open the Google Fit app Google Fit.
  2. At the bottom right, tap Profile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings Settings.
  4. Under “Notifications,” tap Coaching messages.
  5. Tap the notifications you want to turn on or off.

Create a workout goal on your smartwatch 

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up the watch.
  2. In Google Fit, start a workout.
  3. Choose a workout type.
  4. Tap Goals  and choose a goal type.
  5. Set your goal, then tap Done Done.
  6. Start your workout.

Tip: On your watch screen, you’ll find a progress bar. When you hit your goal, you’ll get an alert.
