This needs to be done in the WhatsApp app, not the Google Photos app.

To stop WhatsApp status from being saved automatically in your file manager files by Google, you can follow these steps:
Open the Google Photos app.
Tap on the three lines in the top left corner of the screen.
Select "Settings."
Under "General," tap on "Storage."
Turn off the toggle next to "Save WhatsApp status to device."
This needs to be done in the WhatsApp app, not the Google Photos app.
