To easily access frequently used files, you can mark them as “favorite.”
Important: If you uninstall and reinstall the app, you need to mark your files as “favorite” again.
Mark files as Favorites
- On your Android device, open Files by Google app .
- Select a category or a storage device.
- Find the files you want to mark as Favorite.
- To mark one file:
- In Grid view :
a. Press and hold the file.
b. At the top right, tap More Add to Favorites. - In List view :
a. Next to the file, tap More Add to Favorites.
- In Grid view :
- To mark multiple files:
- In Grid view :
a. Press and hold a file.
b. To select more files, at the top of each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap More Add to Favorites. - In List view :
a. Next to a file, tap More Select.
b. To select more files, next to each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap More Add to Favorites.
- In Grid view :
- To mark one file:
- At the bottom, you’ll find a confirmation message “Added to Favorites.”
- Files that are marked as Favorite is represented with Star .
- To find files marked as favorites, under "Collections," tap Favorites.
Unmark files as Favorites
- On your Android device, open Files by Google app .
- Under "Collections," tap Favorites.
- To unmark a file as Favorite:
- In Grid view :
a. Press and hold the file.
b. Tap More Remove from Favorites. - In List view :
a. Next to the file, tap More Remove from Favorites.
- In Grid view :
- To unmark multiple files:
- In Grid view :
a. Press and hold a file.
b. To select more files, at the top of each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap More Remove from Favorites. - In List view :
a. Next to a file, tap More Select.
b. To select more files, next to each file, tap the circle.
c. At the top right, tap More Remove from favorites.

Tip: You can also remove your favorite files from the “Favorites” folder.
