Take Google Fiber with you when you move

When you move, you can transfer your GFiber service in just a few easy steps.

Have your GFiber PIN ready before starting the following steps.
  1. Open an incognito or private browser window and visit fiber.google.com. On this page, you can check to see if you're moving to an address where GFiber service is available. If you are, you can take your equipment with you and use it at your new location. (If GFiber isn't available at your new home, you'll need to contact GFiber customer support to cancel your account.)

Not all accounts are eligible for a move and you may need to create a new account at the address you are moving to.
  2. With your GFiber PIN ready, contact GFiber customer support. We recommend doing this at least 30 days prior to moving. We'll take care of transferring your account information from your current address to your new address.

  3. Make sure your account balance is paid in full.

  4. Once you receive a notification that your account has been updated, you'll be ready to set up GFiber service in your new home. You can do this in one of two ways:

    1. Make an appointment to have one of our technicians install your service, OR

    2. Set up GFiber yourself with a self-install kit. Some plans require a GFiber technician to install your equipment. If this is the case, customer support will let you know when you contact them about setting up your transfer. Otherwise, select an option from one of these choices to set up GFiber internet on your own.
If you live in an apartment building in Orange County, your self-install process is slightly different. Please follow these instructions instead to perform a GFiber self-install.

Move FAQs

What do I need before I contact support to schedule my move?

You will need:

  1. Your GFiber account security PIN (How to find your PIN)
  2. The new address you're moving to
  3. Your expected move out/move in date (Note: please ensure your move dates are within the next 30 days).
  4. Your account balance has been paid in full

Is the address I'm moving to eligible for GFiber service?

Despite our continued efforts to expand service, there are some areas where GFiber service isn’t available yet. We can check this for you, however:
  1. Please have your GFiber security PIN ready (as we can’t assist you without it).
  2. Chat with our support team where we can verify if the new address you’re moving to is eligible for GFiber service and next steps.
If/when I move, should I take my equipment with me?

In most cases, yes! You'll need to take the following GFiber equipment to your new address (equipment may vary depending on your internet plan):

  • Router
  • Mesh extenders
  • Ethernet cords
  • Power cables
  • Google Fiber Phone Box, if you have phone service

However, please make sure to leave your Fiber Jack where it was originally installed at your old address. You’ll receive a new one at your new address.

If you have any questions about moving your GFiber service to another address, you can chat with our support team and we'll help address them. Please have your GFiber security PIN ready (as we can’t assist you without it).

What if my address I'm moving to isn't eligible for GFiber service?

Despite our continued efforts to expand service, there are some areas where GFiber service isn’t available yet.

  1. Please have your GFiber security PIN ready (as we can’t assist you without it).
  2. Chat with our support team where we can address any questions you have and schedule the cancellation of your account with your move out date.

What happens on the date of my scheduled move?

  • By this time, you should be ready to complete your move!
  • Keep in mind, your account will remain active until 12:01 PM PT the day following your scheduled move out date.
    1. If you have not completed your move by this time, your account will be placed in a suspended state to prevent any new charges from accruing during your move.
    2. Billing will resume once service is activated at your new address.
  • You can start service at your new address by plugging in your equipment.

Important note: if you are using Google Wifi or if you are using your own router, you will need to chat with our support team to activate your account after plugging in your equipment.

  • If you are moving during a month that you have already paid for and service is not reinstated within 24 hours, you will receive a prorated credit on your next bill for any unused days of service.
Important: You have 60 days from your scheduled move date to plug in your equipment and activate service or your account will be cancelled.
