Add or Remove Streaming

This article applies to customers who have Fiber TV. If you have NVIDIA SHIELD TV and are interested in adding YouTube TV, please see instructions on signing up for YouTube TV.

You can add streaming services—including HBO NOWTM and Spotify PremiumTM—to your Google Fiber account when you sign up for a Fiber plan or whenever you like. With streaming services, you can access your favorite content on your mobile device, computer, or television. If you decide to cancel a streaming service, it's quick and easy to remove it from your Fiber account.

Add streaming to your Fiber account

The steps to add streaming differ, depending on whether you're signing up for a Google Fiber plan or you're a current customer who wants to add streaming.

New Fiber customers

When you sign up for your Fiber plan, you have the option to add any of the streaming services available with that plan:

After you complete signup:

In your Fiber account, you’ll see a notification to activate streaming services and a Streaming tab on the left:

Next steps: Before you can access a streaming service, you first need to activate it. However, activation isn’t available until after Fiber is installed in your home. We’ll send you an email message to let you know that you can activate your service.
Current Fiber customers
  1. Sign in to your Fiber account.

  2. At the bottom of the Account page, click Manage plan.

  3. Under Subscribe to additional services, click Add to Plan for Streaming.

  4. On the Streaming page, check the boxes for the services you want to add. For example:

  5. On the Review Changes page, confirm the changes are correct, and read the terms and conditions. If you agree to the terms and conditions, check all the boxes, and then click Submit.

After you add streaming:

You’ll see a notification to activate streaming services on your Account page and a new Streaming tab on the left:

Next steps: Now you're ready to activate your streaming service.  Remember, you’re not billed for a streaming service until it's activated. We’ll send you an email message to remind you to activate your service.
Note: HBO NOW isn’t available with the Fiber 1000 + TV plan. However, you can add the HBO option to your Fiber TV plan; this option includes the HBO GO streaming service, which has same content as HBO NOW.

Remove streaming from your Fiber account

Your subscription to a streaming service automatically renews each month. To cancel a streaming service, you can stop auto-renew at any time. After you cancel, you can continue to enjoy the service until it expires on your next monthly renewal date. To find that date, check the details page for your subscription.

To cancel a streaming service
  1. Sign in to your Fiber account.

  2. On the Account page, click Manage plan.

  3. Click Add or remove streaming services.

  4. On the Streaming page, uncheck the boxes for the services you want to cancel, and then click Continue. For example:

  5. On the Review Changes page, confirm the changes are correct, and read the terms and conditions. If you agree to the terms and conditions, check all the boxes, and then click Submit.

Billing

With streaming, you pay in advance for each month of access to a service. Once you activate a service, you’re billed for the first month of your subscription. You'll see the subscription amount as a separate item on your next Google Fiber billing statement.

For example: If you activate a streaming service on the 15th of the month, that’s your renewal date. If you receive your Fiber bill on the 1st of the following month, payment of your Fiber bill covers one month of access to the streaming service—from last month’s renewal date (the 15th) to next month’s renewal date (the 15th). By default, your service is set to automatically renew, so you can enjoy continuous access from month to month.

Frequently asked questions about streaming

Which devices can I use with streaming services?

For details about compatible devices, see the service provider’s support information.

Can I stream content to my television?

Yes, you can stream content to most televisions. However, depending on your television, you might need an additional device. For details, see the service provider’s support information.

Is there a limit to how much data I can stream with a streaming service?

Not at all! There are no data caps with any Fiber plan, so you can stream all you want.

If change my Google Fiber plan, what happens to my subscription to a streaming service?

Your subscription to a streaming service isn’t affected if you upgrade or downgrade your Google Fiber plan, with one exception: If you subscribe to HBO NOW and upgrade to a Google Fiber TV plan, your HBO NOW subscription will be canceled automatically (HBO NOW isn’t available with Google Fiber TV). However, once your HBO NOW subscription expires, you can add the HBO option to your Fiber TV plan. This option includes the HBO GO streaming service, which has same content as HBO NOW.

If I cancel streaming, can I renew it again?

Yes, you can cancel and renew your subscription to a streaming service as often as you like. A few notes:

  • HBO NOW: If you renew after your current subscription expires, you'll need to add the service to your account and activate it again.

  • Spotify Premium: To renew, you’ll first need to wait until your current subscription expires. Then you can add the service back to your account and activate it again.

If I cancel streaming, do you provide a prorated refund?

We’re not able to provide a prorated refund if you cancel a streaming service. However, because you pay for your subscription in advance for the following month, you can continue to access the service until your subscription expires on your next renewal date. You can find that date on the details page for your subscription.

If I cancel my Google Fiber subscription, is my streaming subscription also canceled?

Because your subscription to the streaming service is linked to your Google Fiber account, it will be canceled if you cancel your Fiber subscription. Note that you can continue to access a streaming service until your subscription expires on your next renewal date. You can find that date on the details page for your subscription.

I just activated streaming but changed my mind. Is there a grace period for cancellations?

Because you pay in advance for a month of access to a streaming service, we don’t provide a grace period. However, if you cancel your subscription, you can enjoy access to the service until your subscription expires on your next renewal date. You can find that date on the details page for your subscription.
