Program the Google Fiber remote for your TV

To start watching Fiber TV, pair your Google Fiber TV remote with your TV using a brand code or IR learning.
If you need help with getting your remote to operate your Fiber TV Box, see the instructions for pairing your remote instead.

When installing your Google Fiber TV, your Installation Specialist programmed your remote control's IR mode to operate your TV. If you need to, however, you can program the remote yourself.

Ways to program the remote for your TV

  • TV brand code: The quickest way to pair the remote to your TV. Simply enter the 4-digit code for your TV brand.

  • IR learning: With this method, you program each "learnable" button on the remote, using the original remote for your TV or audio equipment.

Controlling audio equipment

The Fiber remote doesn't fully control audio equipment, such as audio receivers. However, you can program the volume up/down and mute buttons to work with your audio equipment. Simply follow the IR learning procedure below, using your original sound system remote for those buttons.

Program a universal remote: If you want the convenience of using one remote to control all of your devices—TV, Fiber TV Box, and audio equipment—consider purchasing a universal remote control, such as the Logitech Harmony remote.

Before syncing your remote

There are two versions of the Fiber remote: one with a live button and one without. Make sure you follow the instructions that apply to your remote:

Program the Fiber remote (without live button)

To program the remote by TV brand code (recommended)
  1. Find the 4-digit code for your TV brand.

  2. Turn on the TV using the TV's original remote control.

  3. On the Google Fiber remote control, press and hold the google fiber remote on button tv and Google Fiber TV remote ok button ok buttons down simultaneously until the google fiber remote on button tv button blinks twice and then stays on.

  4. Release both buttons.

  5. Enter the 4-digit code for the TV brand.

The TV power button blinks twice and then stays on.

If the power button blinks several times and then turns off, the brand code is invalid. Go back to step 2 and try again. If it fails again, try to program the remote by IR learning.

  6. Pause for 3 seconds.

  7. Press and hold google fiber remote on button tv until the TV turns off. Then release google fiber remote on button tv.

  8. Press google fiber remote on button tv to turn on the TV.

  9. Press Google Fiber TV remote ok buttonok to exit programming mode. Then confirm successful programming.
