Transfer your existing phone number to Google Fiber Phone

You can transfer an existing number to Google Fiber Phone. Before transferring your number, consider the following:

  • Do not cancel service with your current provider before the transfer is complete. The transfer may take up to 5 days to go into effect.

  • Gather all the information you need about your current phone number, such as account number, password, and PIN. Most of this information should be available on your bill.

  • If you have voicemail messages on your current system you want to keep, ask your provider if they provide the ability to download and save the messages. You can also download and use free software like Audacity to record and save your messages.

  • Transferring from a cell phone service may result in the cancellation of your entire plan, including data.

To transfer your number:

  1. Sign in to Fiber using the email and password you use for your Fiber account.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to select Keep your existing number, and complete the setup flow.

  3. Fill out the form to authorize the transfer process with your current provider. If necessary, reference your current provider's bill for any required information.

  4. After it's complete, you'll be directed to schedule your installation appointment. After you select an installation appointment, we'll begin the process of transferring your number.

Avoid cancelling or rescheduling your appointment. If you cancel or reschedule your appointment within 48 hours of the appointment time, there's a chance the transfer of your current number will take place, and your current service will be disconnected. You'll still have access to your number via Hangouts on web or mobile.
