Search for content

This article applies to customers who have the new version of Fiber TV. If you have the older version of our user interface, please view this article on how to search for content.

Use Google Fiber TV Search to quickly find a TV show, movie, sporting event, personality, network, and more. Search looks for content in program listings on the on-screen guide and other locations.

There are two ways to search for content:

  • Search screen: Use either the on-screen keyboard or the remote keypad. The Search screen saves a list of your previous searches.

  • Smart search: Available while watching video and from the on-screen guide. Use the remote keypad to search. You can turn this feature on or off in the Remote Settings.

Get faster results with the remote: To enter search text using the remote, press the alphanumeric buttons for the letters or numbers you want to search for. Search predicts what you're looking for, and can often find the content you want after you enter just a few characters.
To search using the Search screen
  1. Press Search icon on the remote control. Or, press on the remote, select Search from the menu, and press ok.

The Search screen appears, showing the on-screen keyboard.

    • On-screen keyboard: Press the arrow buttons on the remote to navigate around the keyboard, and press ok to select each character. (Search is not case sensitive, so you don't need to enter capital letters.)

    • Remote keypad: Press the alphanumeric buttons for the letters or numbers you want to search for. For example, to find content that includes the word "garden," enter 42733. To enter a space, press 0

To delete characters, select x on the on-screen keyboard or press google fiber remote delete button on the remote. To delete all characters to start over, select clear on the on-screen keyboard.

  3. When you see the search text you want above the on-screen keyboard, press the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight it, and then press ok to see your search results.

To search using smart search

As you enter characters, Search displays its best guesses for what you want to find on the left side of the screen. You'll also see any channel numbers that match the numbers on the buttons you pressed.
