Provide a guest Wi-Fi network

If you want to provide a guest Wi-Fi network for your visitors and customers once you have Google Fiber installed in your business, review our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy and consult with your network expert or other IT professional before doing so.

Guest networks are available for the Wi-Fi 6 Router, Multi-Gig Router, and Wi-Fi 6E Router. If you have a Google Wifi or Nest Wifi Pro router, you can use the Google Home app to manage your Wi-Fi settings.

Here are a few highlights from our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy to consider before you decide to provide a guest network:

  • A guest network must be used by your customers and guests only. Don't intentionally provide access to other businesses or properties, and don't resell the service directly or indirectly.

  • Do not associate your Wi-Fi with Google or Google Fiber in any way, including in marketing materials, captive portals, and the SSID (network name).

  • You are responsible for the behavior of your guests with respect to our policies. If your guests violate our acceptable use policy, we will try to help you address the problem, but you are ultimately responsible and, if necessary, we may shut off your service.

Also consider the following before you decide to provide a guest network:

  • You should take steps to segregate guest Wi-Fi traffic from your company's traffic. This might require advanced router configuration. Consult your network expert or other IT professional for more information.

  • Your bandwidth is shared with guest Wi-Fi users, which can affect the speed of your network. You can reduce the impact on speed with advanced network configuration, such as limiting guest connection time and bandwidth. You can also block access to certain sites or types of sites. Your network expert or other IT professional can help.
