Watch content on a mobile device with the Fiber TV App (Android)

Starting January 14, 2022, no new content will be added to Fiber TV’s video-on-demand offerings in the Kansas City market.

Any shows, movies, or other content currently available in the Fiber TV on-demand library will continue to be available. This limitation only impacts new content being added.

When your Android device is connected to your home Fiber Wi-Fi network, you can watch some content with the Fiber TV mobile app.

  • Use the on-screen guide to select a TV show airing now and watch it on a mobile device. Shows that are available to watch on a mobile device include this icon: 

  • Select an On Demand program and watch it on your device, if the show is available to watch on a mobile device.

Watching live channels requires Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or later.

Some shows can't be played on mobile devices.

While watching live TV, rewind and fast-forward are disabled (and do not appear in the Now Playing action bar at the bottom of the screen).

Enable accessibility features in the Fiber TV App on your Android mobile device 

To turn closed captions on or off

  1. To enable or disable closed captioning for TV and video on demand (VOD), touch the screen during playback, and then touch .

  2. The closed caption options appear. Select the appropriate channel (CC1, CC2, DTVCC1, etc.). Captions are provided by content providers, and they might not be available for all content. Google Fiber TV simply passes them through unchanged.

To turn off closed captions, simply tap the CC button once again. 

Enable closed captions on Android KitKat 4.4.2 or later

If your device is running Android KitKat 4.4.2 or later, you can enable system-wide captions, so you do not need to set it for each show.

To enable system-wide captions on Android KitKat 4.4.2 or later, go to Settings > Accessibility, and then touch Captions to set the language, text size, and caption style.

If your device is running a version of Android older than KitKat 4.4.2, you can enable captions on a show-by-show basis.

To enable or disable audio description

  1. As you're watching content within the Fiber TV App, tap SAP on the bottom left.

  2. The SAP options appear. Select the appropriate channel (primary, secondary, etc.). This option might be English, Spanish, or something else, depending on the available audio channels.

To turn off SAP, simply tap the SAP button again.
