Set display and audio options (legacy)

This article applies to customers who have the legacy version of Fiber TV. If you have the new version of our user interface, please view this article on how to set audio options for a show.

You can set certain display options for the show you are watching only. When you change the channel or the show ends, these temporary display options return to their default settings. (You can also set persistent display options.)

The show-specific display options are:

• Closed caption: Click to go to closed caption settings.

• English/AC3/Channel 1: You can use the SAP setting to select a different audio channel when more than is available in the broadcast. (This option might be labeled English, AC3, Channel 1, or something else, depending on the available audio channels.

• Aspect ratio: The proportional relationship between the width and height of an image. In the case of a TV, it is commonly expressed as two numbers separated by a colon, as in 16 x 9.

To display these options, while watching any type of content, press on the remote control, and select Options from the overlay that appears. The Options submenu displays the current selection for each option.

To select a different audio channel for the current show

1. While watching any show, press on the remote control.

   The info overlay appears at the bottom of the screen.

2. Select Options, and then select English/AC3/Channel 1.

   The audio channel options appear, if any are available.

3. Select the desired audio channel.

4. Select Done to return to the current program.

   The selected audio channel takes effect immediately.

If no options appear when you click this option, it indicates that no other audio channels are available for the current show.

You can also enable the SAP option permanently, if desired.

To change the aspect ratio for the current show

1. While watching any show, press on the remote control.

   The info overlay appears at the bottom of the screen.

2. Select Options, and then select Aspect.

   The aspect ratio options appear.

3. Select an option:

   • Source: Uses the aspect ratio from the video source.

   • Stretch: Stretches the image to remove the black borders on the sides or top and bottom of the image. This action alters the aspect ratio of the original image in an attempt to make it fill the screen.

   • Zoom: Zooms the content in, which can remove black borders all around the image. This action preserves the aspect ratio of the original image in an attempt to make it fill the screen.

4. Select Done to return to the current program.

   The aspect ratio reflects your setting.
