Download the latest version of the Google Home app

Download the latest version of the Google Home app to help you set up your internet. The app contains step-by-step instructions to set up your internet, but you can also refer to this guide (or both). Customers can download and install the Google Home app on their mobile device from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Can’t download the app? We’ve got you covered with the instructions here, but you will need a non-GFiber internet connection to complete the initial setup of your network name and password.

Access to the internet is also required for customers that are using the app to set up their network. You can use a phone (or tablet) that has internet service to complete the process below.

Have devices that you’ve already set up using the Google Wi-Fi app? Learn how you can migrate those devices to start using the Google Home app instead.

Step 1: Find your Fiber Jack

Your Fiber Jack is where GFiber's fiber optic signal comes into your home. For most customers, this will be a small white box attached to the wall, and you'll have a separate wireless router that plugs into the Fiber Jack via an ethernet cable. The Fiber Jack is usually installed on a wall in your living room. If it isn't there, you might find it in some out-of-the-way spot like a closet, behind a couch in your living room, or in the garage. If you need more information on locating your Fiber Jack, watch this quick video or visit About Fiber Jacks

Don’t see a Fiber Jack? A small percentage of our customers have a wall plate instead of a Fiber Jack. If this is the case, plug one end of the ethernet cable directly into the port of the wall plate. (In 95% of homes, the correct port is the top one, so try that one first.)

Step 2: Plug your Fiber Jack into power

If your Fiber Jack has a cover, then gently squeeze the sides to slide the cover off to access the ports.

Using the power adapter in your kit, connect the Fiber Jack to the nearest wall outlet. The light on the Fiber Jack may blink red or green and should turn solid blue or green depending on the Fiber Jack model. Wait for the light to turn a solid color before moving to the next step.

Step 3: Connect your new ethernet cable to your Fiber Jack

Plug one end of the ethernet cable into the Fiber Jack.
If you are upgrading to a new router, unplug your old router from the Fiber Jack and the power outlet. Plug your ethernet cable into your Fiber Jack's ethernet port and reconnect to the power adapter to the outlet.

Step 4: Connect your the Nest Wi-Fi Pro to your Fiber Jack

Turn the Nest Wi-Fi Pro so the back is facing you and plug the other end of the ethernet cable into the Nest Wi-Fi Pro. Customers may receive up to 4 points depending upon their plan and package purchased.

If you have purchased additional points for your Nest Wi-Fi Pro, the points only need to be plugged into the power outlet in order to connect to your Nest Wi-Fi Pro.

Step 5: Use the Google Home App to complete the setup process

The Google Home App makes it easy to complete the setup process. The app will walk you through all the steps to set up your new mesh Wi-Fi network in your home. If you haven't already done so, please download the latest version of the Google Home app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
