You can now use the Fiber app to upgrade or downgrade your plan. Once you make the change in the app, as long as it doesn't require a professional installation, the change will go into effect immediately.
To change a plan:
1. Touch Account.
2. Touch Change plan.
3. Select a new plan, then touch Next.
4. Touch Change plan to continue with plan change.
5. Touch Confirm to confirm plan change.
6. Your account should now show the updated plan. Congrats!
If your new plan requires a professional installation, you'll need to contact us.
Certain plan changes require new equipment. If the new plan you want to switch to requires that you switch to a different type of router, for example, you'll need to contact customer service for an installation appointment or so we can ship you a self-install kit. But don’t worry. If you initiate a plan change in the app that requires you to contact us, we'll let you know.
Specifically, if you’re upgrading to 2 Gig or currently have a mini network box as your router and are upgrading to 1 Gig, you'll have to contact Google Fiber rather than make the change in the app.
