Some multi-gig routers included with Google Fiber 2 Gig need to be replaced

A few of our 2 Gig customers are currently using routers that need a security update that can only be made by a Google Fiber technician. As of September 20, 2021, these devices may lose access to important features, such as the ability to reset your Wi-Fi password and get remote troubleshooting, so if your router is impacted, please chator call to schedule an appointment for a technician to install a new multi-gig router.

What should I do if I have one of the affected routers?

Chat with us or call us at (866) 777-7550 so we can schedule an appointment to replace your router at a time that’s convenient for you. 

How can I tell if my router is affected?

If you’re unsure if your multi-gig router needs to be updated, feel free to chat or call us. A light on the impacted routers will blink, indicating an error, although internet service will not be impacted. 

What will happen if I don’t get my router replaced?

If you have one of the routers that’s affected, you will lose access to certain functionality, such as the ability to change your Wi-Fi password; in addition, we may not be able to troubleshoot your internet connection remotely if you encounter issues.
