Google Fiber Phone Box needs to be swapped out or phone service will be interrupted

We may need to swap out your Google Fiber Phone Box

Some of our Fiber Phone customers are currently using a version of the Google Fiber Phone Box that needs to be swapped out for a different one. As of September 20, these devices may no longer work, so customers with these Phone Boxes cannot make or receive calls using their Google Fiber Phone service.

What should I do if I have one of the affected devices?

We encourage you to chat with us or call us at (866) 777-7550. We will arrange for an installer to come out and swap your Phone Box for a different one at a time that’s convenient for you. 

What will happen if I don’t get my Phone Box fixed or replaced?

If you have one of the Fiber Phone Boxes that’s affected and don’t call us by the end of September, we will automatically cancel your phone service. After that, you’ll no longer be charged for Google Fiber Phone service and we will add a credit to your bill for any days you do not have working Google Fiber Phone service. 

If you no longer want to continue the service, you can drop your equipment off at a Google Fiber Space, recycle it through your local electronics recycling center, or contact us for a shipping label and ship it to us free of charge so that we can recycle it for you. You won’t be charged a fee if you don’t return it. 

What happens to my Google Fiber Phone number if my service is cancelled?

The phone number for your Google Fiber Phone service will remain a phone number in Google Voice. Anyone who calls your number will still be able to leave voicemail, and you’ll be able to check voicemail, forward calls to a mobile number, and use all of the features of Google Voice. Can I add Google Fiber Phone service back to my Google Fiber account in the future?

If you cancel Google Fiber Phone service or it is canceled because your equipment has not been replaced by September 30, you can add phone service back to your account at any time. There is no activation or installation fee for adding Google Fiber Phone back to your account.
