Visual voicemail and Galaxy S20 5G doesn't seem to exist.

1 Recommended Answer 4 Replies 14 Upvotes I bought a phone through the google fi store described as "Built for Fi."
The Google Fi Voicemail settings page says, "Visual Voicemail is automatically available for google fi in the Phone App."
The phone is missing this very basic voicemail feature.
I'm unable to play voicemails from the phone app. Neither the default Samsung phone app or the google phone app installed from the play store even have a voicemail tab or AREA. It's just completely missing. It goes without saying that they're also not available to view transcribed. I can't even see a history of voicemails.
Fi Support says it isn't supported for these phones.
Their suggestion is to call into the voicemail line with a pin and listen to them in order as though this were 1999.
This feels like such a bait and switch, and I feel extremely let down by this from google.
Has anyone seen any indication whatsoever that they are looking into fixing this? "Not supported," Doesn't feel like a real answer to not being able to see or listen to your voicemails inside the phone app on a phone sold BY GOOGLE, on a google OS, promoted as, "Built for fi," in 2021.

I would love to see a fix for this. I have the same issue. Tried downloading google's phone app and making it default / giving permissions to fix this. Hopefully its something they're working on. It's a basic core functionality of a phone.

This is a terrible move by Google. Which carrier out there do you know that sells phones that don't include visual voicemail? A major step back by the carrier. I haven't left them yet because I'm stuck with this Galaxy S20 promo for 60 days. Once that is passed I'm outta there!

Welcome to the Google Fi Help Community! It was included in the March update as I understand it. Once you download that update from the first and THEN get your first voicemail, the app will appear in your app drawer and then you can set it up. Let us know if it is working that way as other posters have described it.
