My activation keeps failing saying there is an issue with my sim card id:t080. My phone can make calls most of the time and internet works flawlessly but texts never seem to work.  Was wondering what the error code t080 means. Phone is the chuwi hi9 pro if that is needed. I tried this service after reading a review by someone who had the same phone and said that it worked fine on google fi. It will be perfect if I can resolve this last little issue. I know my phone is unsupported so I dont expect it to be without probems but hoping I can fix as may as possible.

Did you try Settings>Network & internet>Mobile network>Carrier>Reset carriers

My phone only has the options for data roaming, preferred networks and enhanced 4g lte mode. dont see an option for reset carrier.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with my mate 20 x on Google fi. Resetting the network setting does nothing.

I suggest you contact Google Fi Support directly for help with this issue.  They should be able to look into the matter further and advise you accordingly.

Thank you.  I have and even though activatiin abroad shouldnt be a problem now, according to their documentation, it is a problem.  The solution as far as Google Fi is concerned to return to the US and see if it works.  I use fi because I travel a lot and this is rather inconvenient.  Nevertheless, what can I do?

I get that error code whenever I try to activate a phone and it is not on the T-Mobile network.  When I ensure it is on T-Mobile, that code does not appear and the phone activated properly.

I am also having this issue. I am on a Blu C6. When I try to go to the mobile networks though it will not even show me a list of networks available. Regular SMS texts work but not MMS. I am soooo frustrated.

I fixed mine in a Mate 20 pro doing this:

Change automatic carrier selection and choose a carrier you believe can handle 4G in your area.
Wait for the service to register.
Go to apps, locate Google Fi, and clear data (not just cache)
Then activate again. Should work.

Thanks, followed those directions and it activated. I am curious what would happen if you didn’t activate, since data, voice and hotspot were all working before activation. What is the value-add of activating?
