While in a phone call when I speak, the person on the other end of the line has a 5-20 second delay before hearing my voice.  This has been an issue before resetting to factory defaults, after resetting, on wi-fi, and not on wi-fi.  It has been happening for just over 2 weeks.  The only support I have received from Google was to reboot my phone into safe mode (where there was no voice delay) and leave it there.  Rebooting back into standard mode on a vanilla install I still get voice delays.  I did NOT Have this problem on the same phone just over 3 weeks ago (I have had the service for several months now), but now I do.

Any help would be appreciated, I can't just leave the phone in safe mode all the time.......

Hi Jason Bliss, welcome to the Google Fi User Forum!
Considering safe mode seems to resolve your problem, it's almost certainly a 3rd party app that is causing the issue. Can you think of any apps you installed about the time the problem started? If so, I would start by deleted them.
Here is a link to the Google Help article explaining this process.
Hope this helps!

The support person I spoke with had me reset to factory defaults.  There is no other apps currently installed on the device aside from what was pre-installed by Google (as I ordered it from google direct).  Unfortunately the issue still persists despite a factory reset.

When you activate an Android phone, it will try to install apps you had previously. If you installed the app on a prior Android phone, it may have been automatically reinstalled as part of activation.

I have restored to factory defaults WITHOUT third party software installed, I have uninstalled everything that is not required for operation and I STILL get call delays.  It varies between 1 and 10 seconds.  The only response I have received from tech support is they are "sending it to my specialist team".  That was two days ago, and still no response.  I have now had this issue for far too long.

Not sure what to do next.

Sorry for not thanking you for the welcome in your first response I missed it in my haste!

Have you noticed if the problem occurs only on wifi calling? Also consider installing an app like Signal Spy to see what network you are on. I had this problem for a bit and noticed it predominantly occurred while I was on Sprint, so I would manually switch to T-Mobile using Signal Spy before important phone calls.
(I do note that the problem eventually went away and I no longer have that problem, but it may be worth the experimentation to see if you can isolate a more specific problem.)

I canceled my service because I experiences the same issue. Wifi or not the calls/texts are all delayed.
I love google products but this one needs improvement.

I spent endless hours with Google fi support they had me do everything including factory reset. Unfortunately the only thing they would not admit is that FI kind of sucks. When I told the chat person that I didn't have any delay with Verizon she replied "Excellent!"
