Activating eSim on s22 ultra

Question

I recently noticed that Google fi had extended eSim support on S22 ultra. I am an existing fi customer. In order to activate eSim, I followed the steps mentioned but fi app forces me to insert sim card. After calling customer service, they spent more than an hour in getting it to work, but eSim never got activated on the phone. When I try to add phone plan from settings, it shows me multiple carriers listed but not fi. Has anyone owning s22 series device successfully activated eSim?
