Where are Google Fi end of life support timelines listed? 1 Recommended Answer 6 Replies 0 Upvotes

I'm trying to find out how long certain phones will be supported on Google Fi (1. Android OS updates, 2. security updates, and 3. phone/online support), such as in this article about Pixel/Nexus phones.

I'm specifically looking for the Moto G6 and would expect this information to be available for all phones purchased through Google Fi.

Thanks.

Hello Seeking Answers,

Welcome to the Google Fi Community forum.

Carriers do not determine the end of life date for phones.  That is up to the phone's manufacturer to determine.

Your question about the Moto G6 would likely be best addressed in Lenovo's Moto G6 forum:

Thanks for the quick reply, Lilybell2!  While I can see how it makes sense for Motorola to establish the 1. OS updates and 2. security updates, what about the timelines for 3. phone/online support from Google Fi?

To reiterate, the reason I posted this in the Google Fi forum is because certain phones are sold and supported through Google Fi.  If Google Fi merely provided the data pipe without any sales or support, then I'd completely agree the questions would make sense exclusively in a Motorola forum.

My 18-month old Moto X4 is already getting insufferably slow, although it seemed snappy when I first got it; I assume security updates and bigger apps are to blame, but of course I don't know.  Apps usually take several seconds to open after they are selected, which is increasingly frustrating.

So at least for me, I think the service life will not be determined by the manufacturer or by Fi, but by when I will get too frustrated waiting for responses.  Once I pass that threshold I will probably replace the phone.

Got it, Lilybell2, thanks.  It sounds like Google Fi support for carrier-related issues is for as long as a phone is on the service.  It makes sense "telephone or online" support for Pixel/Nexus phones would be different and provided regardless of carrier.

Thanks, again.
